If you have not come across it before, A Blue Flag is a prestigious, international award scheme that recognises the best beaches and marina's in the world. It judges coastal destinations against important criteria including water quality, facilities, safety, environmental education and management with only the best winning a Blue Flag.

So, if you are are heading for a beach holiday in the UK, head for one of the many Blue Flag beaches for the very best experience. The Blue Flag beach list is reviewed every year (results in May) but the list regularly features Bournemouth and Poole in Dorset, Torbay and Dawlish Warren in Devon, Polzeath and Sennen Cove in Cornwall, Bridlington and Scarborough in Yorkshire and Cromer and Lowestoft in East Anglia.
