Holidays in Suffolk

Suffolk is a beautiful and tranquil county that is the perfect choice for a short break or a summer holiday. From picturesque villages to the miles of unspoilt coastline and seaside towns there is so much to see and do in Suffolk:

  • Picture Postcard Villages. Suffolk has no short of pretty villages but 2 well worth checking out are Lavenham and Long Melford.
  • Saxon Suffolk. As the name Bury St Edmunds would suggest, St Edmund who was the last Saxon King of East Anglia is buried here. With historic ruins, a new cathedral and wonderful gardens Bury St Edmunds is a great day out. Also look out for Sutton Hoo near Woodbridge where there is a group of Saxon burial mounds.
  • Genteel Seaside Resorts. If you fancy your seaside with a little less 'bling' then Suffolk has some wonderfully unspoilt resorts - check out Southwold (and its wonderful pier) and Aldeburgh.
  • RSPB Minsmere. Suffolk countryside and coastline is perfect for birdwatching and there is nowhere better to head than RSPB Minsmere. In the spring you can see avocet, marsh harriers and booming bitterns and a special area of the beach is cordoned off to protect nesting little terns. Wading birds, swans, ducks and geese visit in the autumn and winter too.
  • English Seaside Resort. If you are looking for a more 'bling' seaside resort, then Lowestoft, is the place to head in Suffolk. The golden sandy beaches were given the prestigious Blue Flag Award in 2010, recognising them as some of the best in the world - with the highest quality water, facilities, safety, environment and management. Enjoy the popular donkey rides, Victorian Seafront Gardens and new attractions such as the musical Royal Plain Foundations and the roller-skating rink at Claremont Pier.
