St Patrick's Day Weekend Breaks, Short Breaks and Holidays in Ireland

St Patrick's Day is celebrated in more countries around the world than any other so where better to celebrate it on the 17th March than in Ireland itself, on a cottage short break or self catering holiday?

St Patrick's Day Cottage Breaks in Ireland

Saint Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland and is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. St Patrick's Day was made an official feast day in the 17th Century but over time it has become associated with everything Irish, celebrating the Irish culture and you can expect there to be lots of shamrocks and green & gold everywhere you look! Most importantly, to those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick's Day is a traditional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries worldwide.

St Patrick's is an exciting time to visit Ireland with lots to see and do including festivals, parades and parties. Of course if you want to head to the biggest party of all head for the Dublin St Patrick's Festival a 4 day extravaganza that is enjoyed by over a million people each year. In 2012 the Festival runs between the 14th-18th March and you can find out more on the Festival website.
