Clare, Cavendish and Long Melford are all close by, as is Lavenham, which is a true picture postcard village with timber framed houses and a wonderful church. There are a number of places of historic interest in the area including Kentwell Hall, Long Melford Hall and Gainsborough House. Historic Bury St Edmunds offers good shopping and dining facilities in addition to the Greene King Brewery, where tours are available. The Cartlodge, Maltings Farm is a fabulously converted single storey farm building, situated in a courtyard setting with private garden.
